WTVA (12/30/14): OLE MISS FANS CLAIM ATLANTA TAVERN
ATLANTA — Ole Miss fans living in Atlanta have claimed a spot to celebrate the success the Rebels have had on the gridiron.
The Black Bear Tavern across from Piedmont Hospital has been hosting the team's fans for a few years now.
"We had two of our club members who were here a lot, and then when Ole Miss changed its name to the black bear, it became very obvious where we should be as a club," said Jim Donald with the Atlanta Ole Miss Club.
According to Donald, the bar has given the Rebel faithful a warm welcome unlike other spots where fans would gather to watch the team.
"In the past, we were in larger venues, and when Ole Miss wasn’t winning, they’d change the stations in there," said Donald.
The winning season the Rebels had on the football field filled the Black Bear Tavern on Saturdays, and owner Timmy Philip said the Egg Bowl crowd was very festive.
"Everyone came in and cheered on Ole Miss all the way. And every score, they’re screaming 'Hotty Toddy,' and they’re very, very excited they won the Egg Bowl," said Philip.
